Re: The Justices
Ok, everyone, now we'll begin working on the Justices.
In the last discussion, we decided that the Justices would vote on Consul proposals before they passed. And, as they are Justices, we should be able to agree that they are to handle judging to ban certain nations that are accused of something.
So does anyone have any ideas to add to the Justices' list of duties? I'll be thinking up some myself; if you have anything, please post it.

Maybe having the final say in tied elections?

Re: The Justices
I could agree with that. One of the problem's we've had so far with elections is that we have a tie or not enough votes, and they continue and continue. That would speed up the process.
I think we could also allow them to work proposal repeals. For example, say some government position (the Consuls or the legislature, one of the two) decided it particularly disliked a certain proposal. If, say, 4 of 5 of the Consuls or 80% of the legislature agreed it should be repealed, the proposal would go before the Justices to repeal it.
*We will collect a few more ideas and then decide on them all at once, instead of doing each one by itself.

Re: The Justices
The only thing I can think of is that they can keep the RMB in order as in to make sure it doesn't get out of line.

I think that's the job of the RMB Overseer.

Re: The Justices
Yes, GROSS is correct. The topic overseer's job is to step in a break up arguments and to come up with topics to talk about. I don't think the Justices should have a part in that.

Re: The Justices
I honestly didn't see the RMB Overseer in the list... so thank you very much for pointing that out. I withdraw that statement.

Re: The Justices
They could also decide how to reward nations, with stuff like badges, titles, soft cuddle kittens, ect.

Re: The Justices
If you're serious, we could come up with some periodic reward decided by the Justices. I'm actually considering doing the Seal of the Union Award again--which, for those of you who never saw it, was a big award given to the nation with the best overall statistics. It took a lot of work, though. I'm thinking that, instead of doing the thing in a few days and trying to organize 10 people to do it, I'll probably just load all the pages on one day at the beginning of the month and then record a few nations' information each day so I'm done at the end of the month. It was a really great award, it was just so hard to do. Anyway.
It doesn't seem like we're going to have a lot of ideas coming in, so let's decide on what we have so we can move on to the next topic. So, for this, simply say yes or no to each of the following Justice duties:
1. The Justices will vote on proposals passed by the Consuls before going into effect.
2. The Justices will decide to eject/ban nations accused of breaking rules (i.e. posting inappropriate content, threatening, etc.)
3. The Justices will pick candidates from the ballot in the case of a tied election.
4. The Justices will vote to repeal a proposal if 4/5 of the Consuls OR 80% of the legislature requests its repeal.
5. The Justices will choose a nation for a periodic award of some sort.

Re: The Justices
Yes x 5
And also, in case of there ever being a need to eject/ban a nation right on the spot, Kialga should have the authority to go ahead and do it without waiting around for the justices to decide. If it were an emergency situation.

Re: The Justices
Yes x2.
I disagree with portions 2, 3, & 5.
2: Should be left to WA Delegate (Who has power now) and myself.
3: The tie should be placed to a re-vote between the tied candidates. The Justices, in theory, will have already voted.
5: We already have an award set going. And even to remember/track/recognize these "awards" is just a line on "website." I could attempt to get little images for here on the forums, but that requires forum membership to see/give those.

Re: The Justices
@Kialga: About numbers three and five, we did that before, and it took us forever to finish our elections. In the end we always ended up just taking volunteers. About number 5, we only really do one anymore. I did ONE Seal of the Union Award. It took too long. As I said before, I may try to do it again, but it would still be a cheerful thing to add to the region.

Re: The Justices
Yes on all except #4.
I believe that it should be brought from 80% to 65-70%.

We could do that. 66% would be easiest.

Re: The Justices
@Alunya: I am fairly certain that the Consuls will be given the power to expel any inactive official. Are you proposing that we move this power to the Justices?

Re: The Justices
I share kialga's sentiments on #2. It took a while for the delegate to be given those powers and even at that I had a lot of trust building to do, even at that still, Kialga and I actually have an agreement in place regarding it too.
On 4 I share vizindolf's concern.

Re: The Justices
@Vizindolf: I believe Alunya meant the Justices would handle expelling Consuls, not other officials. However, unless all of them are inactive, the active Consuls should be able to get rid of the inactive ones.
@Abacathea: I think we've mostly agreed on #4, to lower it to about 66%.

Re: The Justices
The justices should have to write résumés, and present them to the people before they are allowed into their position. That way, we will know what we are getting ourselves into.

Re: The Justices
@GROSS: I understand now, thank you for the clarification.
@Gatito: As the Justices will have to be elected, I would assume (and hope) that resume writing would be a part of the election process.

Re: The Justices
I agree with Vizindolf. Resumes should be considered a part of campaigning, so if a candidate really wanted to be a Justice, it would be up to them to convince everyone to vote for them via resume or something else.

Re: The Justices
Completed Justice Duties
I believe we are, then, finished with the Justices. Here is the outcome:
1. The Justices will vote to pass or strike down Consul proposals before they go into effect
2. The Justices will hold trial for accusations (bounds for such accusations will be set later; inappropriate posting and other immediate ban-worthy crimes should be dealt with by the Delegate/Founder)
3. The Justices will pick/appoint candidates in a tied election
4. The Justices will vote to repeal a proposal if 4/5 of the Consuls OR 2/3 of the legislature recommends the action
5. The Justices may choose a periodic award of some sort (as this was Gatito's idea, he will work out the details of this)
If there is something more to discuss, please bring it up now. Tomorrow afternoon we will move on to the next topic.

Re: The Justices
Since GROSS decided to give me a responsibility relating to awards, without my consent, I have come up with several categories in which the awards will be given:
Defense (stopping raids, even if not related to the IWU)
Diplomacy (stopping conflicts domestically, or with other regions)
Intelligence (contributing valuable ideas to proposals and stuff like that)
The awards will be given in the form of fluffy kittens.

Re: The Justices
Sorry about that, Gatito. I figured you would want to come up with the idea yourself.
We've essentially finished here with the Justices. We will now move on to the next subject, which is the secondary executives.
